Mona and Marilyn Status: (In Development)

Imagine being given the skinny on a scandalous family secret involving legendary screen siren Marilyn Monroe. A secret so closely guarded, it has eluded Hollywood for over 60 years.

Could it be that Marilyn Monroe has Canadian roots?

In September of 1979, award winning Canadian journalist Gene Telpner received a visitor, and that meeting challenged all historical theories as to Marilyn’s true parentage.

For the past year-and-a-half Jordan Films has been working closely with Vancouver Island-based writer/journalist James Clarke, whose family ties to this story have opened many doors that until now have been kept closed. Searching for the truth, on-camera interviews have been conducted with relatives in British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba.

The truth in our research shows there is a strong case to be made about those missing years. Jordan Films and Clarke have used Telpner’s article, which ran in the final edition of the Winnipeg Tribune in 1980, as the foundation upon which our feature film is based.

Mona & Marilyn is a profoundly sad but enlightening story of Marilyn, her Canadian mother, and the shameful family secret.
